I’m due to start a skincare trial shortly, so I’ve been squeezing in as much skincare as possible to try and build up a few features over the next couple of months whilst I limit my routine; as you would expect, my skin is a bit all over the place and I’ve got a few breakouts, so I reached for the new Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment to ascertain if it would help. The Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment is, as you may have a guessed, a mud-based mask designed to deeply cleanse, clarify and refine, with key ingredients such as active charcoal, clay, and most interestingly, a NeoGlucosamine blend that can help lightly exfoliate the skin, allowing another ingredients to penetrate a little further and do a better job.
The first thing I noticed about the Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment methods are how silky it is; it’s creamy, thick and lacking the chalkiness you often get with clay and charcoal masks. It still dries to a hard finish, but the finish wipes away more easily than I was expecting, and doesn’t break up into bits that fall all over your bathroom making a tricky-to-clean mess. I left that one for about 15 minutes and noticed that my skin – especially the breakout areas – looked a great deal calmer, felt a lot smoother, and generally appeared refined and deeply cleansed, therefore the mask definitely performs as it promises. I would say this really is suited to most skin types, but when you’re like me and prone to dryness, then I’d definitely follow with a hydrating gel mask to counterbalance any dehydration. This can be a great example of how clay masks could be powerful and deeply cleanse without overly drying skin; you’ll definitely need a little moisture help after use (unless you’re especially oily and enjoy a matte finish) but skin definitely doesn’t feel like it’s been sucked dry, as is often the case with clay masks.
