Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders Review

More often than not, I reach for the balmiest of lip products, especially in the warmer weather when I hate the feeling of anything heavy on my face, so it’s all light and creamy textures that involve very little effort. Matte lips are a really tricky product to obtain right, which is why I mostly prevent them as I find matte lipstick hard to wear – I’m someone who has dry lips almost constantly, so matte lipstick is not my friend! I’m not likely to say I’m a total convert, as balmy lips will always be my favourite, but the Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders have definitely made an impact on me.

The Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders are slender sticks having a creamy powder in one end along with a sponge tip with a gentle point at the other. You apply using the sponge tip, which lets you trace an outline and fill in with the product. My first surprise was how opaque and pigmented the product was, as it’s very quick and easy to create a full coverage lip. Application is extremely easy as the sponge tip is just the right consistency, so if you favour a bold lip but struggle to get that clean line, the Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders can help you with both colours and application.

The Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders will come in eight shades so far, with a fairly decent mix of brights, nudes and vampy shades, although the line-up is missing a few more pinks…but obviously I’m likely to think that! The three shades I've are Trust Fall, a muted rose pink; Limitless, a mid-toned nude and lastly Nailed It, a deep claret. My favourite (predictably) is Limitless, but to tell the truth, all three have had their fair share of uses. Limitless is surprisingly wearable – I believe the deeply matte finish causes it to be more flattering for me than I had been expecting – and Nailed It is a stunningly vibrant shade that I’m surprised by how much I like!

The finish, as stated, is clean and even and the wear is very good. The fade is gradual and doesn’t break down into bits, so if you’re much like me and prefer to apply your lipstick and end up forgetting about it, you can definitely do that using the Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders; even the bold Nailed It wore really well and didn’t go patchy, it just sort of faded away.

Wearing Trust Fall.

If you’ve avoided matte shades, I would recommend giving the Avon Mark Epic Lip Powders a try, as they are honestly some of the best matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried – comfortable, vibrant in colour and unexpectedly low maintenance. They require some more shades but that’s pretty much my only criticism, and for lb6 a go (currently on offer – usually lb8 each) you actually can’t go wrong!
