Some Beauty-Boosting Mood-Enhancers

Goodness I’m shattered. I mean really, really shattered. I’m not about to go into a huge whinge about why I’m so shattered, I just wanted to set the tone. Since the beauty products I’m about to tell you about have all had quite a dramatic impact on my mood in the last couple weeks, making me feel instantly uplifted and giving me a bit of an energy boost. Or a moment of relaxing, mind-soothing escapism, with respect to the time of day.

(Admittedly most of this mood-enhancing happens in my en suite, in the twenty minute gap between one baby drifting off to sleep for a nap and the older one waking up, which is far from a glamorous spa escape in certain luxury Maldivian hotel resort, but you have to get your beauty kicks somewhere!)

The Queen of Hungary Mist from Omorovicza (from lb25 here*) is a firm favourite for years and it lifts my mood whenever I spritz. It smells of orange blossom, feels refreshing on the skin and is – I should warn you – highly addictive.

Darphin’s Aromatic Cleansing Balm with Rosewood (lb33 here*) is really a truly indulgent little treat. It’s pricey for this type of small pot, so you wouldn’t want to use it by the bucketload to remove a face filled with makeup, but a small amount melted on the skin as a luxurious massaging cleanse is a thing of utter joy. The smell is simply beautiful.

And then NEOM’s new Energy Burst Bath & Shower Drops (lb40 here*), that have become a key part of my shower routine. (Yes, I have a shower routine, but only because I’m trialling various things to do with my c-section scar for example plasters that need soaking off and tea tree oil that requires diluting and splashing on!) The tub & Shower Drops from NEOM are excellent for the shower, you just dispense a full pipette’s worth onto your chest so that you can inhale the aroma as you do the rest of your showery things, and also the scent is really zingy and happy and reviving. I’m always a bit sad when I have to rinse them back, but then I also have a tiny little perfume spritz with the same scent (lb8 at Amazon Luxury Beauty here*) which i keep in my dressing gown pocket* for when my spirits are flagging.

What are the mood boosters? I’m building up quite a collection of them in my bathroom cabinet, though they’re mostly luxury aromatherapy oils and sprays…any budget suggestions that don’t smell of Magic Tree?
