5 Unspoken Rules When Putting on a costume For Work

When it comes to dressing up for work, there are a few things that are not stated in the contract but must be followed if you want to dress to impress the right people. Unlike our days in class way back when, work life dressing is not as explicit as our college student handbook. Therefore, we have gathered some unspoken rules that must be followed if you want to be on top of your work dressing game:

1. Nothing too short and skimpy.

Make sure your workplace look can be easily distinguished out of your Friday night-out outfit.

2.The office is not the place to go loud. Ditch the neon party.

Literally and figuratively, work is not the place to be loud (besides the success of your performance). Be sure to stick to neutral colors or limit your look to two shades. Stray away from neon and sparkly pieces.

3. We like a good décolletage but too much cleavage isn't welcome in the office.

The phrase ‘take all things in moderation’ also applies to work dressing.

4. Slip out of the slip-ons.

If you’re hustling in the world of suits and trousers a.k.a. the corporate world, make sure to dress your feet accordingly too! Stray from shoes that show too much of the feet such as casual open-toed slip-ons, flip-flops, strappy heels, and so forth.

5. Find the right balance of style and comfort.

Work is work. We always have to reach a certain level of comfort to be able to perform our job accordingly. Style however is our secret weapon to make good first impressions and bringing ourselves well around the bosses. Find the right balance of both and stick to it!
