Five Essential Skincare Products

I’ve always been someone who really loves skincare and will always get more excited about a new serum than a new lipstick…although I’ll get pretty excited about the latter too! Consequently, I’ve worked all things in a lot of skincare, and since I started blogging I’ve been fortunate enough to try some amazing products from fabulous brands.

There are several that really stand the test of your time and work wonders on my small skin, so I tend to recommend them to anyone who ever asks my opinion on great skincare, especially as these five are the sort of products that’ll do great things for all skin types. Here’s a quick look at each product and why I think it’s so fabulous:

The Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner is among the best products around for introducing acids into your routine, and I’ve mentioned many times how brilliant this is for anyone with sensitive/reactive skin. It’s a very gentle mixture of salicylic and glycolic acid that’s sooo mild, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s not doing anything, until you feel your skin afterwards which will be smoother and prepped for the rest of your routine. It’s round the lb12 mark and used to be quite accessible, but for some reason it’s out of stock from most of the places I would recommend. However, I’ve found it at Skinstore here – .

The Repair shop Aloe Soothing Rescue Cream Mask is one thing everyone needs in their stash as it’s such a fantastic product that boosts hydrating, soothes redness or sensitivity and provides skin an amazing glow after just one use – I cannot get enough of it! It’s a particularly fab product if you’ve overdone it with the acids or spent too long in the sun, as it’s brilliantly soothing and thick enough to stay on the surface so it doesn’t just absorb, therefore leaving skin looking and feeling a lot calmer – I love the entire The Body Shop Aloe range, but this is definitely the star product. It’s lb11 here – .

I had to include the Murad Blemish Clearing Solution when i had a little breakout a few weeks ago as a result of using too many rich products in one go, and so i dug this out and was reminded of precisely how incredibly effective it is for speedily reducing breakouts – seriously, I don’t know of any other product that works as quickly as this does and each time I revisit it I’m amazed. It’s lb32 here – – and as you simply need a smidgen for treating a breakout, the 50ml tube can last for ages.

I’m *terrible* with applying SPF when i always find it interferes with my skincare/make-up, leading to pilling and an uneven finish. To date, the only one I’ve found that doesn’t create those problems may be the Neostrata Sheer Physical Protection, which not only provides a fantastic SPF50 (I had a computerised skincare assessment today and my UV damage is very low, so it’s clearly working!) but it also acts as a kind of primer for make-up, so I find my base sits and appears better after using this. I had been expecting this to be a lot of money but it’s lb34, which I realise isn’t exactly budget, but it’s definitely well-priced for such a great product. Find it here – .

The Paula’s Choice Resist Skin Transforming Multi-Correction Treatment is pretty much as it sounds, a multi-tasking, acid-based product that’ll do great for things for all skin types and assist you to maintain decent skin. I drag this out regularly when ever I need to give skin a quick, overnight boost so it feels and looks more radiant, smoother, toned and usually even, and if ever I was to try and convince someone to up their skincare game, I’d start by introducing them to this. It’s lb37 here – .
