I’m possibly the only beauty blogger who hasn’t tried the cult tarte Shape Tape Concealer, and so i tried the tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation with completely fresh eyes. The tarte Shape Tape Foundation will come in two formulas – matte and hydrating – along with a fairly decent 18 shades. I've the Fair Beige shade the second to lightest shade available and is a fairly good match for me personally, but I would probably go for the lightest shade when repurchasing.
The tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation is available in a bottle with a lid that’s mounted on a sponge for easy (albeit slightly unhygienic) application. Personally, i quite like the sponge tip because it means I can splodge it all over my face, then buff that along with a brush. I tend to perform a single layer, buff it in, then repeat wherever I need some additional coverage. I believe this is on the high coverage side of medium – almost full, but not quite.
The tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation lasts really well and wears very evenly after 8 or so hours, with not much patchiness, even when I’ve been to the gym. I actually do find it darkens slightly over time, which is a shame and is why I'd go for the lighter shade for any future purchase. I really like the formula, which is hydrating and a great consistency for providing decent coverage that doesn’t look thick or OTT.
Above I’m wearing my full make-up which includes a coverage top-up with concealer. I’ve had some phenomenal foundations find my doorstep over the last couple of months so I’ve definitely got a few favourites that I take more than others. The tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation would be a bit of a grower for me, because it took me a bit of time to work out the best way to use it; I think applying it fairly thickly and buffing it works best, as it’s a lovely, hydrating formula that can handle a thick application without looking caked-on or mask-like. It’s lb35 directly from the tarte website here – – but QVC UK will be stocking it soon too.
