One of my all-time favourite things to do is visit Jo (Johanne Herald) at Charles Worthington in Percy Street, London, since the whole experience, from start to finish, is always a total joy and an experience I look forward to whenever I’m lucky enough to be invited back. Last time I visited Jo was just before Christmas, and I went along with a desire to try something a little different; I’ve been opting for cool blonde for as long as I'm able to remember, with the very occasional twist, so I decided this was the time to try something different.
Baileys Hot Chocolate that’s served in the run-up to Christmas; this started an intense addiction for me that lasted through December…
I first got my inspiration from the Peanut Butter and Jelly hair trend that’s been showing up on my Instagram, which basically involves a mixture of peanut buttery shades of blonde alongside deep plummy jam shades which i think looks really cool. We went for additional plum with little areas of blonde poking through (Jo adapted the colours to ensure they suited me) and also the look was definitely an extreme change, as you can see!
What I find most fascinating about these shades is that they don’t wash me out, which I would’ve expected to happen considering it’s such a dark shade, but Jo is actually good at knowing exactly what colours work against my skin tone and adjusting the depth and strength accordingly, there have been also several different shades accustomed to keep the colour alive and interesting – such a dark shade can very easily look flat if handled incorrectly.
I really enjoyed going this type of different colour, but after a few weeks the novelty wore off and I definitely craved being blonde again, which always, always happens…Irrrve never learn! As the colour faded, I had been left with a much lighter shade of red with lots of blonde to keep me happy, and that i actually really like how it looks now it’s faded. Having said that, I’m off to see Jo again in a few days to return to blonde again, so keep your eyes peeled for my second post on returning to blonde soon!
