2. Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5320G Watch Hands-On

Patek Philippe is widely credited for giving us the very first perpetual calendar wristwatch. As such, a new perpetual calendar watch from Patek Philippe is always something of an occasion, specifically for the hardcore Patek collectors. For 2021, Patek Philippe released a brand new perpetual calendar watch known as the Ref. 5320G, which adapts and combines traits of numerous vintage Patek perpetual calendar watches. It is a charming watch for sure, by having an interesting stepped case construction, creamy ivory dial, and unique syringe-style hour and minute hands. For readers lucky enough to get be considering a new perpetual calendar, this has got to be one of your top considerations.

Taking a look at the dial, one may be forgiven for thinking it is a three-hander using a big-date screen within the first few seconds. On the other hand, the Chanel Watch Kijiji Monsieur de Chanel has no date complication and just tells time. What Chanel has achieved is really a dial that looks like it includes a traditional layout and is highly legible, and yet manages to be different by incorporating two complications; a jumping hour and retrograde minutes. You see the time starting with the large window at the bottom of the dial, which is the hour display after which towards the top, that is the retrograde minutes after which finally to a rather traditional sub seconds dial in the middle. Chanel has carefully made the screens so the minute indicator does not overlap the seconds. This quite simple yet strong presentation is done by two polished steel hands, along with a smattering of numbers and text, in a nice, contrasting white. The real star of the series, may be the grand feu enamel dial itself. The first Monsieur de Chanel out of this past year, while impressive, didn’t possess a tooth dial and the visual effect that comes with it, particularly a black dial. Another haute horlogerie procedure, grand feu enamel dials require a painstaking quantity of time and effort to create and are unlike any additional dial material commonly used. The repeated use of tooth and firing within the kiln results in a smooth, unbroken surface which has a gentle, almost undetectable curvature in it.The Chanel Monsieur de Chanel (like the Slim d’Hermès), receives a typeface which such as the movement, dial, an incident, was designed especially for this. The powerful, straight lines of the font make for a nice contrast to any or all of the curves and curves around the dial. Like the lions head logo, this font is going to be used in all future Monsieur de Chanel watches.
