How much space should there be involving the refrigerator and the wall?

If your refrigerator has a large black, grid-like device (a.k.a. the ultra important condenser coils!) around the back, give it some space!

Leave a minumum of one inch of space between your grid and the wall. When there is no grid on the back, it’s okay to put the unit closer to the wall. Click the link to tweet this tip.

Remember to wash those condenser coils! Condenser coils are mainly commonly found beneath the refrigerator unit. These ought to be cleaned every 12 to 18 months. If you have pets, you may need to increase cleaning frequency to each six months. If your dog is much like our dogs, in front of the refrigerator is favorite hangout spot.

Remember to disconnect capacity to your refrigerator before cleaning or performing any kind of maintenance.

On most models, you can access these radiator-like coils by removing the bottom grill or kick-panel located at the front or an access panel behind. A flashlight will be helpful in this dark area to prevent any harm to the fan. Using your vacuum's crevice attachment or perhaps a convenient long hose attachment, carefully remove dust and fur on and round the coil. Consider this vacuum attachment, which is also great for cleaning beneath other large appliances. Be sure to remove stubborn dirt by gently running a long-handled bristle brush over the coil. Vacuum again, if necessary, and restore power to the unit.

If your refrigerator's coils are located behind, you can gently brush away dust and dirt with a long-handled bristled brush like this one. It’s the most popular and the one we use in our homes.
