What's In My Makeup Bag: Summer 2021

The title of this video should really be What’s In My Makeup Bags, plural, not Bag, singular, because – finally count – I have four different versions on the run. The first one (my special edition Swag Bag with Scamp & Dude – all profits go to my chosen charity, the Genesis Research Trust) is incorporated in the bathroom and contains four newish foundation launches, eight mascaras that haven’t made the grade contributing to ten or eleven bronzers. (The Swag Bags are HUGE – you can find them here.)

Another of my toiletries bags has been jammed full of brushes that need cleaning, cream eyeshadows that need testing (I like to give them a few days to see if they crease in various conditions!) and a load of liquid lipsticks that all seem to be so long-lasting and pigmented I’m almost scared for their services.

Then there’s the slightly smaller bag, the bag I took away with me last week, the one that has been at least a little bit curated – that contains just one foundation (Dior Forever Mousse), one mascara (KIKO Buildable) and one lipstick (Clinique’s Beige Pop) in amongst the jumble of blushers, highlighting pens and brow gels which were inexplicably present.

But it’s the last bag that I want to talk about here; the one that gets chucked into my suitcase and taken back out again at the end of a trip, the one I’d grab if I was running to trap a flight and didn’t have time to pack. The one with the essentials du jour. There’s an incredible powderless blotting powder, a mega-glow foundation and also the summer’s sexiest lipstick in addition to a completely sold-out rose gold eyeshadow, brilliant brow builder (full post here) and fine, buildable powder blush.

You can find a list of all of the products underneath the video pane – any questions, drop me a comment below. I feel quite divided concerning the lipstick – Sunset Lover – it’s an absolutely gorgeous shade, however i always seem to love the idea of peachy colours more than the truth! I feel as though they sort of sap the colour from my skin making my eyes look small. Does anyone else have this problem with brighter lipsticks? It’s probably all in my head, but I have to put it out there…
